What is a WebRing A WebRing is a group of sites with something in common who decide to co-operate. Each member of the ring puts a WebRing Banner somewhere prominent on there site. This banner allows people visiting there site to visit other sites on the Ring. It also allows them to get a list of all the sites on the WebRing and a short description for each of them. In this way all the members of the ring can increase the traffic to there site. The beauty of WebRings is that the people who visit your site as a result of them are already interested in the subject of your site. Who can Join the Webring Any site relating to Political, Community or other Progressive Video/TV or Video Activism can Join the Webring. Commercial web sites can apply but are unlikely to be accepted unless meet the above criteria. Similarly sites using video purely from an arts perspective are unlikely to be accepted unless they also meet the above criteria. We will also Epost all current members letting them know and comment on new applicants.

How Do I Join WebRing To join the WebRing you must do two things. Firstly you must apply to join By filling in the form below. Within a day or so you will be told your application has been received and processed. You must also add the banner somewhere prominent to your site. This is normally the bottom of the main page but if only part of your site is relevant it would be better to put it there. When you have done this you should send an Epost to i-contact@gifford.co.uk to say what page the banner has been put on. You will then be added to the ring. Only after you have been added to the ring will you benefit from it.

Stage One:Fill in This Form

At any time you can change the details of your website by going to the WebRing Maintenance Page. When you get there fill in the For Ring Members Section as follows:-

Rind ID:	ALTVID
Site ID:	ID you were given when you submitted the above form
Password:	Password you specified on above Form

Stage Two:Add Alternative Video Banner
There follows links contain the HTML which you need to add to your website to create the Alternative Video WebRing banner. There is only one change you must make. Every time --id-- appears you must change this to your site id (the ID you were given when you filled in and submitted the above form). The Epost you are sent when you fill in the form above will also contain the HTML you need with the id set to the corrected number for your website.You should be able to right click on the link below and chose Save Target to save the HTML as a file. Alternatively you can just click on the link and cut/past ALL the HTML. If you are using something like Netscape Compose you will have to go into edit source first. Do not copy the banner at the beginning of this page as it already has --id-- set to 1.

When you have put the banner on your site make sure to Epost i-contact@gifford.co.uk saying where you have put the banner so you can be added to the WebRing.
